Tourist trip to Ghent

Ghent is the capital of the province of East-Flanders and is the fourth largest city in Belgium (about 250.000 inhabitants).

The centre of the city has largely kept its medieval character. The modern city Ghent has a important harbour situated along the Channel Ghent - Terneuzen. The presency of the state university has provided a rich cultural life. Besides Ghent is also the flower town of Belgium (culture of begonia's and azalea's).

The "Graslei" is one of the most beautiful places in the old centre of the town. The bridge to the right is the Saint-Michaelsbridge, the corner building is the old post office. To the right in the distance one can see the three towers of Ghent.
